Help Families - Help Lions
The greater Ruaha landscape in Tanzania is home to 10% of Africa's lions. It also has the highest documented levels of lion killing. Many of these cats are killed in retaliation for killing cattle - the livelihood of many people in the region. Ruaha Carnivore Project and its Director, Dr. Amy Dickman, have many approaches for engagement in the community and their efforts have led to an 80% reduction in lion killing in their core work area. The key to preventing retaliatory killings are predator-proof enclosures which enable a family to protect their cattle and coexist with lions. Families contribute 25% of the cost and the Project covers the rest. Each $500 will enable an additional predator proof enclosure. Join Naples Zoo in this additional effort to help Ruaha Carnivore Project save lions.
Naples Zoo has supported Ruaha Carnivore Project for years. This Go Fund Me campaign was created in response to the request by guests attending Dr. Amy Dickman's presentation at the Naples Zoo Conservation Lecture Series. Your support is deeply appreciated. After Go Fund Me fees are deducted, 100% of contributions go to Ruaha Carnivore Project. If you'd like to make a larger donation without these fees, please contact Naples Zoo's Director of Conservation at [email redacted].
Thank you!
