My baby 18-month-old chihuahua, Lilac, is having some really hard times. She ended up with a perforated esophagus after swallowing a jerky treat that got stuck in her throat. Our vet didn't X-ray her throat, only her abdomen, and sent her home saying she was okay. We have been to two more vets and are now working with a specialty hospital.
Lilac is now fighting hard for her life due to the perforation and because of the perforation, also bacteria in her chest cavity. She also had air around her heart and lungs, which has been removed and hasn't been coming back, which tells us the esophagus perforation is closing. She also had blood flow to parts of her esophagus restricted, and those parts could become necrotic instead of healing, causing more holes.
Suffice to say, there is a lot that could go wrong, and she has an uphill battle ahead of her! She is fighting so hard, and she is doing so well, but it is costing a lot of money, and we really don't want that to be the reason she doesn't get through this! $2k is what I'm asking for, but it is honestly a FRACTION of what we are looking at. Anything helps.
This is Lilac. This is who she wants to be again.
