Save Lift Bridge Book Shop — A Brockport Treasure Worth Fighting For
Friends, neighbors, book lovers —
our beloved Lift Bridge Book Shop is at risk of closing its doors.
For decades, this shop has been more than a bookstore. It’s been the heartbeat of Main Street — a place where kids discover their first stories, where college students find inspiration, where locals pop in just to say hi, and where generations of Brockport families have built memories surrounded by the smell of paper and possibility.
The owners have poured their hearts into keeping this magical place alive through every challenge — the rise of online shopping, the pandemic, and now the Main Street bridge closure, which has drastically reduced traffic and sales. Despite their creativity, resilience, and community outreach, the financial strain has reached a breaking point. They need our help.
Why This Matters:
Lift Bridge Book Shop isn’t just another business.
It’s where my boys beg to go after ice cream, where teachers buy classroom treasures, where we find quirky gifts you can’t get anywhere else. It’s a cornerstone of what makes Brockport special — a reminder that our small town has a big heart.
If this shop closes, we lose more than a place to buy books.
We lose a gathering place, a piece of Main Street history, and one of the last locally owned independent bookstores in the region.
How You Can Help
Your donation will go directly toward helping Lift Bridge Book Shop:
• Keep their doors open and staff employed
• Cover operating expenses while traffic remains slow
• Reignite business through events, outreach, and community engagement
Every dollar helps — and so does every share.
Even a small contribution shows this business, and the family behind it, that Brockport stands with them.
Let’s come together to make sure the next chapter for Lift Bridge Book Shop isn’t the last one.
Let’s keep our Main Street alive. Please share far and wide. There are people all over our country that know and love this wonderful store.
With gratitude and hope,
