Save Lexi from being Euthanized
Hi, My name is Sheila Leavitt. Lexi is a 5 year old Rottweiler mix including black lab. She is extremely friendly to everyone she meets and a beautiful member of a family who loves her very much. On May 13th, while walking with her owner, they came upon another dog. A scuffle ensued and the owner of the other dog was bitten on the lower leg.
Following the incident, a small minority of the neighborhood petitioned to deem Lexi a dangerous dog. On June 9th the hearing took place. The majority of the room was filled with supporters for Lexi with the exception of the 6 neighbors that insisted on the hearing. Despite testimony from the bite victim and a witness stating it was a dog fight, the one town administrator decided that Lexi went directly at the dog owner instead of the dog and ordered her to be euthanized. There is not one piece of evidence to determine that conclusion! Lexi's family had an attorney at the hearing and he has immediately appealed the decision. This appeal had to be brought to the district court. As of this writing the date has not been set. This will probably go to trial. The attorney's fees are adding up rapidly but the family can't give up or Lexi will be euthanized. Lexi has no history of aggression and no prior incidences. Based on the testimony, it isn't even clear it was Lexi who bit him. This is assumed. I can't express enough how sweet and friendly this beautiful dog is. If you can find it in your heart to help defray the cost of her defense, and save Lexi from an unfair decision, it would be much appreciated.
