Save Leland River's Shoreline from Disruption
Donation protected
Hi, I am an environmentally concerned citizen. The Leland River located in the township of Leland Michigan is under threat from the construction of yet another boathouse. A once serene natural resource and home to many types of wildlife is continuing to be populated with boathouses and docks that extend well into the river. A 345sqft boathouse and 4 X 20' long dock is now planned for construction at the head waters of the Leland River. In order to construct the boat house, approximately 32 cubic yards of shore line material will be disturbed. The construction of the project adjacent to a narrow unmarked channel is also likely to impede safe navigation. A picture of the building site refers. Funds donated will be used to support legal and environmental studies. Based on what is learned, a determination will be made as to whether there are strong environmental, public safety and/or legal grounds to consider for potential public or legal challenges - whether through media or the courts.
