Save Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary: Preserve a Reptile Haven

Donation protected
Hello, everyone!

My name is Emma, and I am reaching out to you to support an amazing, kind and caring person, Michael Caithness, and his incredible work at Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary. Michael has dedicated over 40 years of his life to the care and preservation of snakes and reptiles. In 2003, he followed his lifelong dream of opening Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary, a place that has since become a beloved tourist attraction and a vital conservation site in South Africa.

Unfortunately, Michael is now facing the heartbreaking possibility of losing his land, home, and sanctuary and without our help, his dream could come to an end.

Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary is not just any snake park. It is the top snake park in South Africa, working closely with Cape Nature to care for over 100 snakes and other reptiles, including crocodiles, monitor lizards, bearded dragons, tortoises and African grey parrots. With a 5-star rating on TripAdvisor and a 4.7-star rating on Google, it attracts both local and international visitors who come to marvel at these amazing creatures.

What sets Lawnwood apart is its unique offering of a one-hour guided tour. Guests not only learn about snakes and reptiles but also have the opportunity to touch and hold them, helping to dispel fears and misconceptions. The sanctuary’s dedication to education and conservation is truly inspiring.

Here's what one tour company has to say about Lawnwood:

"Nestled along the breathtaking Garden Route in South Africa, Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary is a haven for reptile enthusiasts. Boasting a diverse collection of over 100 snakes, encompassing both indigenous species and exotic reptiles, the sanctuary provides a captivating educational and interactive experience.

The guided tours offered at the sanctuary are enlightening. As you explore the grounds, you'll gain invaluable insights into the different types of snakes, their behavior, and their vital role in the ecosystem. Embrace the chance to handle some of these mesmerizing serpents and dispel common myths and misconceptions about them.

While snakes are the stars of the show, Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary also houses a captivating array of other reptiles, including awe-inspiring crocodiles and fascinating lizards.

What sets the sanctuary apart is its unwavering dedication to conservation and education. By raising awareness about snakes and reptiles, they safeguard these creatures from extinction. Furthermore, their educational programs cater to schools and various groups, instilling appreciation and understanding of these often misunderstood beings.

If you crave an enthralling and informative adventure, look no further than Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary. Immerse yourself in the world of snakes and reptiles and discover their wonders."

We are raising funds to ensure Michael can keep his beautiful 20-hectare property, which includes indigenous forests and the home of his beloved snakes.

Your support can make a world of difference. Please help us save Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary and keep Michael’s dream alive. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help protect this incredible place and the creatures that call it home.

As an added incentive, and as a way of saying a huge thank you to our supporters, for every donation over £40/R920 - we will send out either a voucher for free entry for a family of 4 to Lawnwood or we can send you a personalised video of your favourite snake from the Sanctuary.
For donations over £200/R4,600 we can do a 15 minute live video call with Michael and the snakes/reptiles of your choice, where you ask questions about the snake park or reptiles.

Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, we can make a difference!
