Hey Sacramento neighbors, we’re a few loyal customers and neighbors trying to help an amazing local laundromat business through a rough time with unexpected repair costs. If you have some extra dollars to donate to a good cause this is it! The money will go directly to help this local business stay open for the community, especially our unhoused and homeless community members who have nowhere else to go.
Marcia, who owns the laundromat, always helps those in need and makes everyone feel welcome and appreciated in her shop even when pressured by neighbors to ‘get better clientele.’
As you can imagine, COVID-19 has hurt her business dramatically. She has lost a lot of their commercial clients and are losing money every day, week and month without regular customers but is doing everything she can to hang on and has so far been able to do so during the pandemic.
That is until... she found out the building they are in has some drainage pipes that are very old and corroding and are no longer functioning properly. She has to fix these drains ASAP which for a laundromat, is quite an extensive job and the quote for the work is over $10,000. She has no way to pay for it and while she is seeking loan and grant options, she is in between a rock and a hard place and in need of our support.
Please find it in your heart to make a donation no matter the size. Your donation will help a local business, local residents, nearby seniors on fixed incomes that can’t travel far, the homeless community, and so many more. It will also help her bring back employees more than part time if they can fix the drains and have any left over funds to replace the dryers that are aging and no longer have parts available to fix them because they’re so old.
Here’s a quick note from Marcia after asking her what the support would mean:
“It is with heartfelt gratitude that anyone would even consider helping us because the need is so great for so many concerned everywhere especially during the last fourteen months. For eighteen years we have seen the need of those less fortunate within our community and have strived to help where and when we can. Without us here I understand other laundry facilities won’t or don’t care to accommodate those that are in need. Just a little humanity goes a long way in our society and is greatly appreciated by us and our customers. We desperately want to keep our doors open and to continue serving our community within our capacity.”
