Hi All!

Today is Friday and I’m not at chemo!!! Yahoo! Last week was my last chemo treatment and I cannot wait to feel better and have more energy!

Good news is I’m done with that step and on to the next, my first round of surgery will be August 1st. Bad news is 4 days after my last chemo I learned that I also have thyroid cancer. Sucky I know! A couple weeks ago we did a CT scan to double check my lungs were clear of the pneumonia. And with that scan my lungs were clear! But they found a spot on my liver and a nodule on my thyroid. A MRI came back normal for my liver (thank goodness) and the ultrasound for my thyroid was suspicious to which I did bloodwork and a biopsy.

So the next step is to continue with my breast cancer treatment first and foremost (surgery then radiation). And I have a consultation with a surgeon for my thyroid on 7/19. I will keep everyone posted on what is next with that chapter!

My mentality now is .... You can’t change it, just fix it! And all this with a SMILE!

HUGE heartfelt thank you’s to everyone who continues to help us and those who donate! The love is overwhelmingly wonderful!
THANK YOU!
Kristi and Mike

Hi Everyone!
Some of you may know already, but for those that don’t here’s what’s been going on with me...
On Friday the 3rd we had to cancel my chemo treatment because I had a low grade fever and my resting heart rate was too high. So my Doctor sent me upstairs for an EKG and some other tests as well. With instructions to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate and rest we went home. Over the weekend my fever fluctuated quite a bit but overall I felt fine.
Come Monday my fever was back and I was super out of breath just walking around my house and my heart was racing. Time for the hospital! I was checked in and they did another EKG right away and my resting heart rate was 147!! Usually that’s the heart rate of someone working out! So I was sent off to do a chest X-ray, CAT Scan and lots blood was drawn.
Later that night we found out that I have pneumonia and I was admitted and taken to Modesto Kaiser by ambulance. I spent 6 days in the hospital, where they did even more tests, blood draws and continued to monitor my heart. A “normal” person would’ve just gotten a cold, but me being “abnormal” with chemo, I got pneumonia.
Fast forward to today, I’m done taking my antibiotics and just resting and letting my heart slowly get back to normal. I’m on doctors orders to take another week off of work. And I will be missing my 3rd chemo this Friday, which is a bummer because that just means my chemo end date is pushed back a couple weeks.
It’s ok though, I’ll just smile and keep pushing forward. Thank you to everyone for the kind words and prayers!
Love, Kristi

Hi Everyone!

Thank you so much for all your kind words and generosity. My Husband and I appreciate all the help and positivity we can get. Today I did my 8th out of 16 Chemo treatments, so I am halfway through! Now doing treatments weekly it seems to be moving more quickly! Yay!

Being a self employed hairstylist, if I don’t work I don’t make any money so I am still working a few days a week, but definitely only about a 1/3 of the amount of time I was doing before my diagnosis. And if anyone knows me they know how hard it’s been for me to cancel clients or say no to booking. But it makes me happy to see my clients in my coworkers chairs Thank You to all my clients and coworkers for working with me and my schedule. Love you all!

I’m so grateful to be able to live a semi “normal” life with all that is going on and not feel absolutely horrible. I hope to be able to put a smile of everyone’s faces because smiling helps me get through it all too!

Xoxo,
Kristi
