Save Lake City Playhouse

Lake City Playhouse has been a staple on Garden Avenue for over 75 years. Originally a church, the building began being used as a theater in the 1960's, starting with The Carousel Players (now Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre).

In March of 2020, like most of the world, Lake City Playhouse shut down due to COVID-19. Lake City Playhouse thrived financially during the brunt of the pandemic and was ready to reopen in the summer of 2021. In April of 2021, the playhouse experienced a devastating flood which affected most plumbing in the building. To be fixed, all bathrooms had to be completely torn up and rebuilt from the pipes up.

Almost immediately after an initial insurance payout, inflation made the cost of building supplies skyrocket and money ran out quickly with the bare minimum done. It is unknown whether or not insurance will cover direct costs related to ongoing renovation that does not include structural updates that need to be made.

We want to reopen and continue to be the staple to Coeur d'Alene that we were just three years ago. The Board of Directors at Lake City Playhouse is asking for the community's help to cover the rest of the renovation costs. Costs will cover renovations directly related to the flood (subflooring, flooring, supplies for raising walls, toilets, sinks, etc.). Any additional funds will be utilized to continue to work on structural issues that do not need to be immediately addressed for reopening.
