Meet 4-year-old Koa. We got Koa 2 years ago from the Humane Society in Forked River, NJ. He replaced our beloved Baby Girl, who unfortunately passed away 6 months prior at 14 years old due to old age.
We got the unfortunate news that Koa has a tumor in his chest, causing the area around his heart and chest cavity to fill with fluid, making it hard to breathe and causing a total loss of appetite. The glands in his neck were the size of golf balls and he tested positive for lymphoma. We've started him on weekly chemo treatments and its been going really well but it's just insanely expensive. We're about $8,000 into it now and expected to be around $15,000 all said and done. The good news is he's responding to the treatments and got his appetite back.
Update: Koa's treatments stopped working and the lymph nodes are back to golf ball size. His right one was about the size of a baseball a week ago but I switched up his diet and started really pumping Turkey Tail Mushroom Extract, Spirulina and Tumeric. I removed all carbs and sugars from his diet and literally cook his meals every morning and evening. The good news is this switch seems to shrink his lymph nodes.
We know this is a very difficult time for everybody and we totally understand the inability to help our situation, but we please ask if you have something to help us, we would totally appreciate it. If you are unable to help, we ask that you please keep Koa in your prayers. He is such an amazing dog and a huge part of our family. God bless you all and thank you for your support.
