Help Kiko Get the Surgery She Needs
Hi, my name is Ying, and I’m reaching out for help for my sweet 4-year-old cat, Kiko. To those who know me, you all know Kiko is my whole world. She is my baby. I adopted her from the SPCA four years ago, and she has been my constant source of love and comfort ever since. She’s a small munchkin tuxedo cat who has brought so much joy into my life. Until recently, she was healthy with no major issues, but sadly, things have taken a turn
In December, Kiko started limping, so we took her to urgent care where she was diagnosed with Luxating Patella in both knees. For a brief explanation, Luxating Patella is a condition where the kneecap (patella) pops out of place, which causes pain and affects mobility. At that time, we managed her condition with joint supplements and pain meds, and she seemed to improve, getting back to her playful self.
However, in early February, her kneecaps popped out of place again, and despite trying the same course of treatment, Kiko did not improve. We took her back to urgent care, where they confirmed that her condition had worsened, and she now has Grade 3 Luxating Patella in both knees. The only option for her now is surgery, which will correct her knee issues and restore her ability to move comfortably.
Right now, Kiko’s condition is severely affecting her day-to-day life. Even with pain medication, she is not improving. She is in so much pain that she struggles to move around, and it has reached the point where she isn’t eating or even going to the litter box. It breaks my heart to see her like this, and I just want to give her the chance to live pain-free again.
The surgery is estimated to cost around $6,000, and unfortunately, my pet insurance does not cover this condition or the necessary surgery. As you can imagine, this is a huge financial burden, and I’m doing everything I can to provide Kiko the care she needs. That’s why I’m turning to you for help.
If you are able to contribute, no matter how small, it would mean the world to me and Kiko. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this post with your friends and family to help us reach more people who might be able to help.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Kiko’s story. Your kindness and support mean more than words can express.
With gratitude,
Ying and Kiko
