Save Kiki's Sight: Support Her Eye Surgery

Donation protected
My cat, Kiki, has not had it easy medically since we got her. Being a purebred Maine Coon has come with some unsurprising, but still expensive, medical bills. Sadly, we are unable to do this next one on our own.

On July 26th, I noticed Kiki was squinting her right eye. I did not think anything of it until Sunday, July 28th, when her eye began to weep. I took her in to the vet on July 29th, they confirmed she has a corneal ulcer, got her some tobramycin eye drops, and a week later her eye was not any better but worse. Her lower eyelid was now rolling in, causing additional trauma to her eye.

August 28th, I got took her to the veterinary eye specialist which the regular vet recommended. They confirmed her corneal ulcer was still there and that her rolled lower eyelid, known as an entropion, was causing additional trauma. To prevent the eyelid from causing additional trauma, they put a contact lens in her eye so the ulcer could heal while I continued with the tobramycin drops.

August 22nd, apparently her contact lens fell out at some point, even though I had her in the cone of shame for that whole period. She then had developed a corneal sequestrum, which was what I thought her contact lens was, just discolored. This meant that portion of her cornea had died, and eventually would fall off like a scab. In the meantime, it was also preventing the ulcer from healing. The options were to surgically fix her entropied lower eyelid, surgically fix the eyelid and remove the corneal sequestrum, or medically staple her lower eyelid to keep it from touching her eye so it would heal. The medical staples were the cheapest option, so that was what we did.

Now that brings us to today, September 12th. Kiki is able to hold her eye open instead of squint, the ulcer is better, but it's still there, the sequestrum is still there, and no matter what, her eyelid needs to be surgically fixed.

The longer this goes on, the more risk Kiki is at for permanent damage to her eye. While it shows the tobramycin eye drops are doing their job healing her eye, it's been confirmed that no matter what her eyelid needs to be fixed.

Due to the timeline, my husband and I can't afford the chunk of money needed for the eye surgery. Any little bit is greatly appreciated!
