Update on Kevin: The doctors revealed that he has a severe herniated disc in his neck, that could leave him paralyzed. He has had a previous herniated disc that, rest and taking it easy helped; the vet doesnt think this current situation will heal similarly to his last one because of its location and severity.

How do you not do everything to save the life of “man’s best friend?”

Our sweet Kevin is suffering from a medical condition that could require major surgery to preserve his quality of life. Kevin has been instrumental in all aspects of our lives. The best pup we’ve known, a great dad to his littlest baby, Leia. He has been the bestest boy who was so incredibly excited to meet his puppy baby (Leia) and was incredibly excited to meet our little (human) one. Kevin’s condition could not have come at a worse time, as we struggle as a military family during the government shutdown and the threat of not receiving a paycheck for an infinite amount of time. However, even with both paychecks, the looming costs to keep the Kevin Bear we know and love are increasingly becoming further from our grasp.

We’ve tried our hardest to give Kevin the quality life we believe he deserves, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult as the years go on.

Our fur babies are a part of our family, and I can’t imagine a life cut short because we can’t financially cover the cost.

It breaks my heart; I can’t imagine my husband’s and my children’s hearts.
