SAVE Kenyan School from Closing:SAVE the Teachers
Donation protected
KVCDP school is on the brink of collapse & needs our help. This school/daycare center for orphans & children affected by EXTREME poverty has fed, educated, provided medical care & housed extremely vulnerable children for the past 10 years. It has been one of the only beacons of hope in one of the poorest places in the world. The village of Wagusu relies heavily on this place of refuge as one of the ONLY sources of daily meals, an education, and housing for nearly 300 children in the village. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, volunteer numbers have decreased, donors have disappeared, and the funding is at an all time low. The program does not have enough money to pay the 9 teachers required to keep the school running & the children taken care of. Right now, they are paying the teachers only $50 a MONTH!!! Imagine. This isn’t enough for the teachers to feed their own families and many of them are at their breaking points, depressed & devastated. Some have already had to quit and abandon the children. The teachers do SO much for the kids. Without them, the school cannot continue & the children lose the only chance they have of breaking the poverty cycle they are in. If this school closes: children will be forced to get dangerous jobs such as mining, young girls will be married against their will, and some children may die from starvation as they rely on this school as their ONLY source of food. HELP. IS. NEEDED.
Funding the teachers is the main way to keep this school afloat right now. Without teachers, they won’t get an education. Without an education, they have no hope.
The goal is to pay the teachers around $120-$150/month. (For some perspective: In America, the average teacher makes over $5,000/month.)
They’re not asking for much, but every single dollar will HELP.
On behalf of KVCDP, I am literally BEGGING you to help.
***Suggested donations:
-Anything will help. Even 50 cents-$1.
No amount is too small.
-$150 will help pay one teacher for one month
-Quarter Salary for one teacher: $450
-Half Salary for one teacher: $900
-Salary of one teacher for one year: only $1,800
