As many of you know Kala had to have surgery last June on her right hind leg. 
Her surgery went so well and only a few short months later she was back to herself getting to do what she loves most, to hike and run and play. 

Well a little over a month a ago we were at the park playing and all of a sudden she started limping. I took her to the vet and they said they thought it was just a bad sprain so to have her rest and see if it gets better. Well it breaks my heart to say we waited several weeks and it hasn’t improved. Today I took her in to get X-rays and unfortunately she has torn the left hind CCL (ACL for dogs) as well as some meniscus damage which is causing a popping every time she takes a step. I am so sad that she has to have a second surgery. But I am happy that I know she will be better once she does. If we continue to wait it will cause more arthritis around her knee which will be so hard fir her in the long run.  

At only 4&1/2 years old she still has many years of playing and adventures to be had and with all the resting she has done this last month or so I can tell she is starting to get depressed, which is breaking my heart. We had to cancel our summer two week long road trip that we had planned to go visit my parents (who I haven’t seen since before COVID) in the NW. 

I have Kala’s surgery scheduled for June 22nd which is the earliest they could get her in. The fundraiser to to help with the cost of her surgery and medications as well as follow up appointments after. 

It is such a difficult time for many and I’m so grateful for all the help and love and support in the past and in the present. It would mean the world to me to get my baby girl back to her happy, hyper, silly self again playing and running and taking me on walks because let’s be real, she walks me.
