My friend Julie was born with Spina Bifida and has spent most of her life in a wheelchair. But she’d still like to keep both her legs. Please read her story in her own words:
“I’ve had a pressure wound on my right upper thigh due to continued use of a wheelchair since November of 2021 (about 10 months). After visiting a careless doctor, I developed a bad infection that over time spread to the bone. I have since been seeing a wonderful doctor in Denton, Texas since December that I have visited weekly traveling from Weatherford (about a 90 minute drive). Since March, I’ve had 4 surgeries: surgical debridement, removal of infected hardware from a previous surgery, a skin flap that eventually failed, surgical debridement again. I have recently been approved for Hyperbaric Chamber Therapy. I will need to have treatments every day in Denton until at least the middle of October, which means I will have to either drive every day from Weatherford, or find a cheap place to stay for the duration of my treatments.”
Please help Julie find a way to make her hyperbaric chamber treatments! They start early in the morning, so staying near the clinic is what would be best for her all-around health.
Thank you for your support!
