SAVE JUAN'S LEG: SALVEMOS LA PIERNA DE JUAN

Dear friends, family and kind-hearted people:

My name is Juan Paredes-Cruz, and I am sharing something very personal with you. Four years ago, I had an accident that shattered my right leg. Since then, I have had various surgeries, and two years ago, I put myself in the hands of a surgeon to reconstruct it. I sold all of my belongings to cover the cost of my operation and a prosthetic was placed in my leg. Nevertheless, despite all efforts, my health has not improved. In fact, I have suffered a set-back.

I recently visited a new, highly trained doctor, one of the very few in my country qualified to conduct such surgeries. He very much regretted to inform me that the current prosthetic is damaging my hip and my right leg is getting shorter each day. It currently is 6 cm shorter than the left one. There's a risk that the prosthetic may dig in the hip, or even worse, may detach from it. It is highly likely that he may have to amputate my leg, devastating news that is difficult to process.

I am now in a race against time. I must urgently have another surgery to change the prosthetic for a better one so that both of my legs will be the same length. We hope that with this medical procedure, I may be able to recover the ability to walk normally and have a productive life.

I now ask of you for your help, dear network of friends. I lack the funds to pay for this critical medical procedure. With great humility, I ask that you help me by either making a donation, sharing my story with many others, or any other way that you might be able to help save my leg.

Mi nombre es Juan Paredes-Cruz, y hoy me encuentro compartiendo una parte muy íntima de mi vida con ustedes. Hace cuatro años, sufrí un accidente que dejó mi pierna derecha destrozada. A lo largo de este tiempo, he pasado por varias cirugías, y hace dos años, coloqué mi confianza en un médico, vendí mis pertenencias para costear la operación y me pusieron una prótesis. Sin embargo, la realidad es que, a pesar de todos mis esfuerzos, mi situación no ha mejorado. Más bien, he experimentado un retroceso constante.

Hace poco, consulté a un nuevo médico altamente calificado, uno de los pocos en mi país capacitados para realizar este tipo de operaciones. Con gran pesar, me informó que la próteiss actual está dañando mi cadera y que mi pierna derecha se acorta cada día más. Actualmente está a 6 cm más corto que la pierna izquierda. Existe el riesgo de que la prótesis se entierre en la cadera, o peor aún, se desprenda. Es altamente probable que me tengan que amputar la pierna, una noticia devastadora y difícil de procesar.

Ahora me encuentro en una carrera contra el tiempo. Necesito someterme a una operación de urgencia en la cual cambiarían la prótesis actual por una mejor y más reforzada, asegurando que mis piernas tengan la misma longitud. La esperanza es que, con esta intervención, pueda recuperar la capacidad de caminar normalmente y llevar una vida más tranquila.

Hoy, recurro a ustedes, mi querida red de apoyo, en busca de ayuda. No cuento con los recursos económicos necesarios para afrontar esta cirugía crucial. Les pido, con humildad, que consideren brindarme su apoyo, ya sea a través de donaciones, difusión de esta historia o cualquier forma en la que puedan contribuir para salvar mi pierna.
