URGENT: Help Save Jonah From Prison

No young man should survive homelessness only to face prison afterward.

But that is exactly what is happening to Jonah.

Hi, my name is Ap. Donna Hussey-Stewart. I reside in Alberta, Canada. I met Jonah on one of my mission’s trip to Africa in 2024 and was moved by the Spirit of God to ‘adopt’ him as my son. God has appointed me as mom to this young man whom I love, mentor and care about deeply. Today his future hangs in the balance.

Several years ago, Jonah left Uganda for Dubai with hope in his heart. He had been promised a job and a place to stay - an opportunity that would help him build a future and support himself.

But when he arrived, the promise turned into a nightmare.

There was no job.
There was no place to stay.

Jonah ended up living on the streets of Dubai, struggling daily just to survive.

His painful story of that time can be read here:

After enduring that hardship, Jonah returned to Uganda determined to rebuild his life. He completed his studies in ministry and has been searching for work so he can move forward with dignity.

But now the past has caught up with him.

When Jonah first went to Dubai, he had borrowed money believing he would quickly repay it once he started working. Because the job never existed, he was unable to repay the loan.

Two weeks ago he was arrested over this debt.

He is currently out on bail, but the court has set a bond of 5,000,000 Ugandan shillings (about $1,300 USD/$1,850 CAD) that must be paid by March 19, 2026.

If he cannot raise this money in time, he will be taken back into custody.

In Uganda, this is devastating. Many people who are jailed wait up to a year before their case is even heard.

After everything Jonah has already endured - homelessness, hardship, and trying to rebuild his life - the thought of him sitting in prison for a year is heartbreaking.

That is why we are asking for help.

If 65 people gave just $20, Jonah could stay free.

If 20 people gave $65, the entire amount would be covered.

Every single donation matters.

And if you cannot give, please share this story. Someone you know may be able to help.

Today we are believing for compassion, generosity, and a miracle.

Your kindness could mean the difference between a prison cell and a second chance at life.

Thank you for standing with Jonah.
