SAVE PUPPY JOEY'S LEG!
Donation protected
JOEY is a rescued 9 mo old puppy who needs an immediate hip replacement surgery to save her back right leg that was (literally) broken right off from abuse or neglect and then re-healed badly.
Her surgery is $15,000 (the breakdown is below) and the doctor is donating his fee, but I'm asking for $16,000 to cover her after-care and the GoFundMe fee.
For anyone who donates $1000 to Joey's surgery, I'll give a two days FREE stay at my Joshua Tree area Airbnb. In the fall season this is an $800+ stay.
If you can help by donating a portion of your business sales, please contact me. If you cannot help at all financially please know sharing the fundraiser with a personal plea on your social media IS helping. Thank you xoxo.
Joey's Story
On May 15, Seng found an emaciated, limping stray dog trying to cross a busy street in Inglewood, CA. Despite being in a busy pre-production week, Seng felt this dog was inches from death and coaxed her home with the help of one of her adoptee's, Mona.
Once examined, Seng found not only was the dog starving but her right hind hip was jutting out weirdly and her foot was not reaching the ground.
With the help of buddy, Xan, Seng named the dog Fawnie, for her fawn-like characteristics and scrappy, warm spirit reminiscent of Fani Willis – district attorney of Georgia and Inglewood native.
Seng took Fawnie to a vet who determined she was an approximately 7-month-old puppy with two poorly healed fractures in her right leg. Although a self-proclaimed "foster failure," Seng felt she was at her dog capacity and started looking for a foster.
I had recently lost a dog and had all the equipment and a lot of love to give so I fostered Fawnie but instantly fell in love with her. Despite her obvious neglect and abused life, she is an incredibly joyful dog, full of cuddles and kisses. I adopted and called her Josephine or "Joey" because from behind she jumps like a baby kangaroo.
She's affectionately referred to as Fawnie-Joe.
I took Joey to ACCESS in Culver City to one of the best orthopedic vets in the U.S. He determined that her leg is fully functional and with a total hip replacement she will be a regular puppy and enjoy a full life of running, jumping and playing rough and tumble with other dogs – something she cannot do at the moment.

That being said, the surgery needs to be performed before 10 months. Because of the complexity of her break after 10 months her soft tissues will be fully formed and amputation will be the only option to keep her out of pain.
Although being a tripod is a solution many dogs live with, I'm determined to raise the funds to give her a fully vibrant puppy life.
I can put in a few thousand dollars myself (and am already in over $1000) but I work in the film/tv industry which has seen the worst unemployment in 30 years and unfortunately I have not worked for a few months and am in no position to even take out a vet loan. I am determined to help but cannot fund the surgery on my own.
In addition to GoFundMe, I've been applying to grants and while most organizations will not fund Joey's case because her situation is not fatal, The Mosby Foundation has generously started us out at $400. Hopefully more will come rolling in as they see the effort and interest in Joey's case.
I realize most people are in a pinch (esp in L.A.) right now but if I can get 1,600 to donate $10, Joey will have a full set of legs for life!
It seems worth a shot.
Please donate what you can and if you can not, consider sharing Joey's need on your social media pages.
I will keep everyone updated so you can share in Joey's progress. If you'd like to join her Instagram: @joey_the_blackmouthcur
