Hi my name is Jimi! I was born with Hydrocephalus and it’s really been taking a toll on my life. For those of you who don’t know, Hydrocephalus is a condition in which an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) occurs within the brain. This typically causes increased pressure inside the skull. Despite the hard time I’ve been having, I’m still a strong boy and am still fighting the fight. My parents, Carlos and Danielle, are trying every possible measure to make sure I live a long, happy life. But unfortunately, I have decompensated pretty badly over the last few days. Decompensated enough that I’ve gone to 2 different vets and was ultimately Rushed to an Emergency Neurologist for a more thorough exam.
As of right now, we are trying the least invasive procedures which include various medications, however, we were told I need to be put under anesthesia and undergo an MRI which both come out to $3500 and the end all treatment is a surgical implantation of a shunt to pull the fluid from my brain back into my body. That surgery has a hefty price tag of $10,000. We know in these times it’s tough, however, we are being optimistic and would be very appreciative of any help we can receive. Thank you! -Jimi Hechavarria
