I met Jessie on one of my first shifts at a difficult job and she made me feel so loved and welcome— the start of a wonderful friendship. If you’ve met Jessie (IG @jessicacdoy) then you’ve probably shared a similar experience because she seeks to create safe and healing spaces wherever she goes. Jessie has been working herself to the bone overcoming trial after trial to get her dream afloat: a bikini barista coffee stand that creates a safe environment for LGBTQ+ SWers to do the job they love! Unfortunately we only have a matter of days before the cart that she poured her heart and soul into gets sold to a stranger, which would force her to start back at square one after years of hard work.
Mission:
Jessie’s dream is to create her own bikini barista coffee stand in the wake of overcoming her own trauma at the hands of abusers both within and outside of the (bikini barista) industry. She wants to create a safe, SW-owned coffee stand that is fully LGBTQ+ inclusive and safe for fellow survivors to heal while rebuilding their lives. Context:
Without going into too much triggering detail, Jessie is currently trying to get back on track after her progress being seriously hindered by multiple abusers. She is a leading witness in an active case against a former abusive employer, a Bikini Barista owner (currently facing over 25 charges of s*xual crimes and climbing) who inflicted heavy trauma that Jessie is still struggling to process to this day. As a result, Jessie has had to deal with seemingly countless hospital visits, legal consultation, help from law enforcement, and general severe turmoil and PTSD in recent weeks. As if the financial strain placed on her by this situation wasn’t enough, Jessie is also dealing with other new, troubling, and expensive health issues. Now, with her savings drained from this and her ongoing journey of processing and healing from the heavy trauma she’s sustained, all she wants is to get her stand back so she can begin her dream!
