Hi all!
We’re two dog parents to a sweet and silly 3-year old french bulldog, Jersey. Jersey recently hurt himself while playing and is currently hospitalized and awaiting surgery for a slipped disk in his spine that is causing paralysis of his hind legs.
For folks who aren’t aware, french bulldogs are a high-risk breed for something called Intervertebral Disc Disease, a disease that progressively weakens their spine and leaves them more prone to serious injury.
This is Jersey’s first run in with the disease, and we’re incredibly lucky to have gotten him into the vet within 24 hours of initial injury and into a pet neurologist within 48 hours from injury.
Our specialist estimates his hospital stay, imaging, and surgery to cost roughly $10,000 with us having paid 75% to be able to initiate treatment. Unfortunately, my husband and I are both students living off of his one income, and this is an extremely unexpected expense. We kindly ask and appreciate any contributions anyone can spare, and we hope to pay it forward in the future.
