This is Jax, he’s a 4-year-old cat I got as a kitten shortly after the sudden passing of my foster mom. The unimaginable pain of losing my mom was momentarily blunted by the unconditional love of a new fur baby. He, along with friends and family, helped me navigate one of the darkest times in my life.

Jax is one of the sweetest and most loving cats I’ve owned. Having raised him during the pandemic and working from home, Jax is true Velcro cat, following me around the house, breaking into the bathroom to protect me from perceived predators, and sleeping between the crook of my legs every night. He is never far from supervising my work from my home desk. I love him and he loves me.

Unfortunately Jax is a strictly indoor cat and somehow got outside for 24hr. After being found, he has been struck by a sudden case of feline idiopathic cystitis, a painful autoimmune response causing inflammation of the bladder. This inflammation led to a total blockage of his urinary tract and internal bleeding. Jax was in dire need of emergency care to clear the urinary obstruction and a hospital stay for observation and IV fluids.

The options before me were to say goodbye to the feline companion I’ve grown incredibly attached to or to fork out several thousand dollars to relieve his pain and hopefully bring him home to live a happy indoor life. The choice was obvious, but the financial burden is overwhelming and there is a likelihood of relapse that will require additional interventions.

Please help me save my little guy so he can reach a ripe old age after a happy and enriched life filled with cat treats galore and foil crinkle balls aplenty.

Anything helps.
