Haydn Hilton has a heart the size of Georgia: with a shotgun foray into entrepreneurship and a deep love of animals, Java Cats Cafe was born.
Java Cats Cafe is the first cat cafe to have opened in Georgia: Part coffee shop, part cat sanctuary (they're all adoptable). As you walk by the large window looking into the cat room, you need little more than to see a small kitten frolicking on the "catwalk" or an adult cat pleading for pets through the glass to make you realize that you really need a coffee.
Like many small businesses in Atlanta, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused some financial strain on entrepreneurs as business expenses (rent, salaries, overhead, and utilities) start to pile up and bills come due. Java was doing really well and on its way to stabilizing before COVID hit, but now it's in peril.
Because her employees believe so heavily in this business, and in Haydn, some of them have been volunteering their labor so that this location can stay open. I, along with a few other volunteers, come in to help with paperwork and adoption room cleaning and that has kept Java truck along. BUT, If we can make this goal by the end of October, Haydn will not have to permanently shutter the doors of Java Cats Cafe - Grant Park at the end of the year.
Raising this money means that:
- PAWS Atlanta will still have a partner in doing cat rescue/adoption.
- Her awesome and gracious employees can stop volunteering their time and feel good about getting paid.
- Haydn will have more time to continue to rally support and reconfigure things to ensure that Java's Grant Park residency is feasible for a post-COVID future without stress.
PLEASE HELP US KEEP JAVA CATS OPEN! Share this gofundme with friends, family, groups, and your favorite celebrities - it would mean the world to our cats and to the employees and volunteers who have found a second home with Java Cats and Haydn.
