JARRED SHAW FACES DEATH PENALTY FOR CANNABIS – HELP US SAVE HIM

Jarred Shaw is a 35-year-old professional basketball player from Dallas, TX who is currently facing the death penalty or life imprisonment for cannabis medicine.

While playing for the Tangerang Hawks in the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL), Jarred was arrested May 7, 2025 and has been held for over 5 months with no trial or date set.

He ordered 132 cannabis gummies (worth $400) to treat his Crohn’s disease, an extremely painful digestive disorder with no cure – a disease that cannabis has promising potential to treat.

“I use cannabis as medicine … there’s no medicine apart from cannabis that stops my stomach from aching.”

He ordered them from Thailand where these edibles are legal, his off-season home since joining the IBL in 2023.

Jarred is being made an example of by the Indonesian government and portrayed as a drug dealer. He’s already lost $30,000 to bad lawyers. His accounts have been frozen by the Indonesian government. He is being held in a cramped cell with 12+ other inmates, no visitors, being served prison food that makes his condition worse.

“There’s people telling me I’m about to spend the rest of my life in prison over some edibles. I’ve never been through anything like this – I’m in a really dark mental place.”

Jarred has three siblings. His aging mother, Johnetta Perry, is a cancer survivor who also suffers from chronic illness.

“I’ve written letters to the White House, to the Embassy, I’m doing all I can … that’s my son, and he’s all alone. My prayer is that I’ll get to see and touch my son before I leave this world.”

This is a young man. A son, a brother. A championship athlete with an incurable disease, whose aging cancer-survivor mother may never see him again. All because he ordered $400 worth of medicine to relieve his chronic pain – medicine that’s completely legal just 50 miles away.

“I made a stupid mistake.”
But does a stupid mistake deserve the death penalty?

This is wrong. This is unjust. This is inhumane. This is a matter of life or death. No gift is too small. Please help us save Jarred’s life.

All money raised will go towards: Medical Expenses, Legal Fees & potentially re-entry
