Save James's Home of Over Three Decades
Donation protected
My friend James Grissom was served with a fourteen-day notice by his landlord two months ago. James began making consistent payments to pay down the debt, which his attorney believed constituted a payment settlement with the landlord. The payments (all accepted) made the fourteen-day notice invalid, but the landlord used it as the basis for a notice of petition, and now James goes to Housing Court. The hope is that the full debt, now over $4200, be paid and canceling the action. James has lived in his apartment since 1989.
My hope is that we can raise the back rent and avoid the commencement of court proceedings. It is not a terribly large amount of money, but James cannot raise it or pay it fast enough to satisfy his landlord.
