I’m writing to share the story of my beloved son Ismail—our only child, our miracle—who is now fighting for his life.

Ismail was born in ((Gaza,)) Palestine, during a brief moment of peace and joy in our lives. He was a beautiful, smiling baby. We took him for his first routine vaccination, like every newborn. But our happiness was shattered in a moment. Doctors rushed him into the neonatal intensive care unit. I was shocked—he had been smiling just a minute before. When I asked what was happening, a doctor shouted at me to leave.

Due to the critical healthcare situation in Gaza, confusion reigned. No one could explain what was wrong. I waited outside the ICU, crying, terrified. Then a doctor told me: “Your son has a congenital heart defect.” It felt like a slap in the face. I broke down.

: Ismail was diagnosed with a severe heart malformation—he was born without the right side of his heart. Doctors told me he needed immediate surgery within 24 hours, but we had no way to get him out of Gaza quickly. All I could do was pray and stay by his side. His oxygen levels dropped to 50%. I was told to prepare for the worst.

By the grace of God, a humanitarian organization helped transfer Ismail to Sheba Medical Center in Israel. There, a team of top specialists worked around the clock to perform a highly complex surgery. But things got worse. Ismail suffered a massive brain hemorrhage, his liver started to fail, and he was placed on life support. Doctors told me there was nothing they could do—I should pray for a miracle.

And that miracle came.

After three months in a coma, Ismail woke up. He survived a surgery many thought impossible. The hospital even held a press conference to announce what they called a “medical miracle.”

But the battle wasn’t over.

Ismail needed a second operation within six months to complete the repair and give him a chance at life. And then… the war on Gaza began. Bombs rained down. Hospitals collapsed. All plans for Ismail’s surgery were destroyed.

no options left, I sent him with his grandparents to Egypt. But his condition is worsening. He urgently needs surgery now. Only a major specialized hospital can perform it—and it is expensive.
