I am Islam Ali Awida, a resident of Gaza from the besieged city of Deir al-Balah. My husband used to work for our family, selling drinks, but the war came and destroyed everything, even the source of income for our children.

There is no one to support my family now because my husband is sick with severe chest infections. I also have a child who is ill with an enlarged intestine due to malnutrition.

I have five children, the oldest is thirteen years old and the youngest is no more than two years old. Their names are: Obaida, Ghazal, Mira, Mohammed and Jihad.

Our house was bombed during the war and we were displaced from one place to another. We used to move between tents and UNRWA schools, and when the school where my family and I lived was bombed, we moved to a camp for displaced people, where it is extremely hot in the summer and bitterly cold in the winter.

There is no source of income because of the war and I desperately need medicine for my sick child and milk for my other child, since he is no more than two years old.

I appeal to all people of conscience to help. Please safe us from hunger and war. My children are in dire need of the simple necessities of life: food, clean water, medicine, a place to stay.
