When three-year-old *Theo first arrived at Ilkley Pre-School, they barely spoke. Their confidence was low, and their parent worried every day about how they would cope at school.

Within weeks, the experienced team had gently built trust. Through patient conversation, creative play, and daily encouragement, words began to come. Confidence grew. Friendships formed.

Now, that same child walks in independently, hangs up their coat, and proudly chats to staff and friends.

This is what Ilkley Pre-School does.

It turns uncertainty into confidence.

It turns shyness into friendship.

It turns little steps into big leaps.

But at the end of April 2026 this safe, nurturing space could disappear.After over 60 years at the heart of Ilkley, we urgently need £30,000 to stay open.

If we don’t raise it, children will lose their pre-school, families will face disruption, and a piece of Ilkley’s history will close its doors.

If we do raise it, we secure our future and continue supporting local children for generations to come.
