My name is Assef, and I am a close friend of Iheb Jemai. I am launching this campaign on his behalf because Iheb lives in Tunisia, where GoFundMe is not accessible. As his dear friend, I am reaching out to the global community to help save his life. Every donation will be sent directly to Iheb’s family to secure his life-saving medication and prepare for his urgent surgeries.
Iheb’s Battle:
Iheb is only 22 years old, but he has spent 18 years of his life in hospital wards. Since he was four, he has been battling a relentless enemy: Primary Hyperoxaluria Type 1 (PH1)—a rare genetic liver disorder that affects only one in a million people.
The Medical Crisis:
Due to a genetic defect, Iheb’s liver produces massive amounts of calcium oxalate toxins. This has already led to total kidney failure. He now undergoes grueling daily dialysis at home and three additional sessions per week at the hospital. Following a genetic study in 2022, doctors confirmed that Iheb urgently needs a combined liver and kidney transplant.
A Race Against Time:
Iheb’s condition has reached a critical stage. The toxins are now accumulating in his heart, eyes, and bones, causing systemic damage that is life-threatening. There is a specialized medication that can stop these deadly deposits, but it is incredibly expensive—well beyond what his family or the local healthcare system in Tunisia can provide. Without this medicine and the transplant, Iheb is at immediate risk.
How Your Donation Helps:
Your support is Iheb's only lifeline. The funds will allow his family to purchase the necessary medication directly and cover the costs of his complex transplant procedures. We are fighting to keep Iheb stable enough to survive until a donor is found.
How You Can Help:
1. Donate: No amount is too small. It goes directly to the family for his urgent medical needs.
2. Share: Please share Iheb’s story. Your share could reach the person who saves his life.
Iheb has been fighting since he was a child. He is exhausted, but he hasn't given up hope. Let’s not let him face this final battle alone. Thank you for your compassion and for helping me save my friend
Transparency & Documentation:
Iheb’s complete medical file, including the 2022 genetic study and hospital reports, is available. The documents are in French and Arabic (the official medical languages in Tunisia). We are more than happy to provide these reports to anyone who wishes to verify the medical urgency of his case.
