Save Homer: A Lifeline for Our Devoted Dog
Donation protected
Hello my name is Joseph and this is about my dog, or rather the family dog Homer who along with myself and his aunt took care of his grandparents. I want to start by saying that the tail end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 have not been kind to our family, starting in October 2024 we had gotten news that my grandmother was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer although she received successful surgery several days later our dog Lucca suddenly became paralyzed due to a medication reaction and had to put sleep. This was tough and only one week before Thanksgiving after what seemed like a successful recovery my grandmother started to mention chest pains and it was discovered that she needed major heart surgery.
Throughout all of this Homer continued to be a loyal source of love and calming presence as we endured, also protecting the house as we spent our days at the hospital. Though the heart surgery was successful, and recovery going well this ordeal proved too much for my Grandfather who passed away in January two days before my grandmother came home. This has devastated our family and throughout it all Homer stood by everyone with love and affection, being a constant companion to the family but a pair of large ears to hear our pain and respond with love even after the loss of his grandfather who was his napping buddy.
However over the last few weeks Homer has developed a cough that has worsened, and the vet is recommending a 3 night stay at an overnight facility which is $4-$6,000, x rays, and a cough panel which are about $1,500. After the funeral services and loss there is no way we would be able to cover the cost of this as even his medication has been a struggle.
I am hoping this can help out in some way and I hope that if Homer cannot make a recovery we can make every attempt to try and make that possible to avoid more loss in the family. Thank you for reading and if you cannot help financially please take time to share this link. I will be updating with more document's as they become available to me along with giving updates on his health
