Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out because I am at risk of becoming homeless. I have been living on a limited income while battling several serious health conditions — including Lupus, lung disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and the aftermath of knee, foot, and rotator cuff surgeries. I also undergo monthly immunotherapy infusion treatments to help repair different parts of my body. Illnesses that once left me wheelchair-bound.

I applied to HRA (Human Resources Administration) for rental assistance to help catch up on my rent. My landlord even contacted me and encouraged me to apply for a "One-Shot Deal" to cover the overdue balance. After several weeks, I was approved, and the funds were issued directly to the landlord.

However, despite the assistance being approved and sent, my rental statements showed no credit. I later received an eviction notice. I returned to court several times, subpoenaed HRA records, and fought to prove the checks were sent and received. Finally, HRA provided me with proof—copies of the front and back of the cashed checks. The only issue is that they say the checks weren't cashed by them, and it's my problem to figure it out.

I went back to court with this evidence. Meanwhile, I continued to pay my rent, and the landlord continued to accept my payments. My latest court date was April 16, 2025, and the judge ordered me to submit the full amount by May 30, 2025 — or face eviction by the marshal.

I am in my late 60s, in fragile health, and I simply do not have the money they are demanding. Without help, I will have no choice but to enter the shelter system, which would be devastating to my already critical health. After treatments and with the heavy side effects from my many medications, I need stable, safe housing to survive.
