Hello Everyone,
My name is Heera Ali, and I had the incredible opportunity to be an exchange student in 2021 in Madison, Wisconsin. I attended West High School, where I proudly played on the junior varsity softball team. Being part of the vibrant Madison community was truly an honor, and I was fortunate to meet so many amazing people while also volunteering at various local events. The warmth and support I experienced during my time in Madison left a lasting impact on me.
I am reaching out to you at one of the most challenging times in my life. My father, the pillar of our family and a mountain guide who has spent his life guiding others safely through some of the most dangerous terrains, has been dealt a devastating blow. During one of his treks, he tragically slipped, resulting in severe and life-threatening injuries to his spine.
What should have been a routine expedition has turned into a nightmare for our family. My father now suffers from three slipped discs, a hernia, and nerve compression in his lower back. These injuries have left him in unbearable pain and unable to walk. Even more terrifying, the doctors have informed us that without immediate surgery, my father risks permanent paralysis and the failure of vital organs such as his kidneys and digestive system.
The operation is not optional—it is an urgent necessity. However, in our rural village, medical resources are limited. The surgery must take place in a city hospital where the proper facilities are available, but the cost of this life-saving procedure, as well as the treatment and rehabilitation, is far beyond our financial reach.
The weight of this crisis is unbearable. My father has always been the sole breadwinner for our family. My mother, who once supported us as a teacher, lost her job when the local school shut down. My sister, still in nursing school, is unable to help financially, and as for me, I just graduated from high school and was preparing to pursue my dreams of medical school. But now, my only dream is to see my father walk again.
We are in urgent need of raising $20,000 to cover the costs of my father’s surgery, his recovery, and the expenses of staying in the city during this critical period. This is not just about helping him recover from an injury—this is about saving his life. Without this surgery, the consequences are irreversible, and we are running out of time.
I understand that this is a significant request, and asking for help is never easy. But I cannot do this alone. We cannot lose him. My father is everything to us—our provider, our guide, our rock. Your kindness and generosity could be the reason he survives this, the reason he can return to the life he loves, guiding others through the mountains and walking again without pain.
Even if you are unable to contribute financially, sharing our story with others could make all the difference. Any amount, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to saving my father’s life and keeping our family whole.
From the depths of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, means the world to us.
With deepest gratitude and hope,
Heera
