Masks for Healthcare Heroes

Donation protected

As of today, 13,362 people in NY have died  from COVID-19.

As a New Yorker, this serves as a call to action for everyday NY citizens like myself.  We cannot simply wait on the government to provide our tireless medical workers with the proper protection that they so desperately need. As you well know, New York City is the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak in America. We have 236,743 confirmed cases, making up almost 50% of the total cases in our country. In response, I’ve started a fundraising campaign called Masks for Healthcare Heroes which has been created to raise money to purchase N95 masks for the hospitals that need it the most - but don't have the budget to afford them.

Masks for Healthcare Heroes was created to raise money to purchase N95 masks for the hospitals that need it the most - but don't have the budget to afford them.

A close friend of mine is stationed at New York Presbyterian Allen Hospital located in Inwood adjacent to the Bronx where they've been wearing trash bags as gowns for weeks already. When I asked her if she had the masks she needs, she replied "I’d take anything at this point...It’s been legitimately horrible. My days have been 12-16hrs, I’ve been working the past 19 days straight. We have so many intubated in our ED that we have ICU doctors actually camping there. I have been wearing masks over and over again...My locker is a build up of masks."  The hospital is in the midst of an area with the highest number of cases per zip code (up to 1245 cases in each zip). She says that the Bronx have been ravaged by the virus "they have been getting hit really hard by this. They have like two families in a two bedroom so it’s been destroying that area. Our CNO came down and said since this all started our ICU & our ED are the hardest hit from this all amongst all the NYP campuses." To end the spread of COVID, it is imperative that they stop having to rewear the same masks day after day which are undoubtably covered in germs harmful to both themselves and the patients they are caring for.

With your help, we can provide masks for those healthcare providers that need it most. Whatever amount the you can donate would make a difference to those on the frontlines of this historic battle for the lives of our citizens - it is literally a matter of life and death.
