Save Hamo who is still running for his life

Hamo Azhari has been running for a year, fleeing from his family that tried to kill him. After Egypt, Cyprus, Istanbul, Kiev he's arrived in a place where he is relatively safe for now. Until a country will give him a residence permit, he has to keep looking over his shoulder. For his family has shown they won't give up easily to hunt him down. End of January his tourist visa will expire. He has a few chances left to get help from an embassy or an NGO. If those fail he will have to travel on, or become illegal in the country where he is staying.

As long as no NGO is concerned with his case, Hamo needs funding for living costs and arrange legal issues to get accepted as an asylum seeker somewhere. Please support him. € 5 will help him get a meal, € 10 for a place to stay for the night

Hamo is an ex-Muslim who fled his home country of Sudan, where the penalty for apostasy is death.  His 21 year old’s life is in danger because he has renounced his religion. He is an "apostate" from Islam, and therefore subject to incarceration, and a sentence of capital punishment according to Article 126 of the Sudan Criminal Act of 1991.

Since leaving Sudan in Oct 2018, he has been mostly homeless and trying to find a safe place to live. His extended family have attacked and threatened him on several occasions.

A small support group from Australia, Canada and the Netherlands had correspondence with Hamo and his situation has been assessed by a refugee worker on the ground in Cairo and another reliable source who can confirm that his need is real. Hamo needs our financial help to reach a safe country, as his life is in danger.

It is a human right to be allowed to have freedom of religion, but also the right NOT to practise religion. A distinction should be made between criticising ideas and violating human rights, as this is the only way forward. .

Funding and withdrawal plan
We're a group of Dutch, Canadian and Australian supporters that help Hamo on his flight from his family and the regime. We support him with advise, finding a place to stay and getting him into an asylum procedure in a country where he has a chance of being accepted. The funding is used to pay for living expenses, a place to stay, legal costs and  costs we have to make to get him to a safe place. Money will be sent to him via Transferwise in weekly portions, corresponding his needs. A weekly allowance will be sent to him for living costs by the campaign manager, Maarten Freriks. Special expenses, like tickets and legal costs will be paid directly.  If we have budget left when Hamo found a safe place to stay, we will refund the money or donate it to the refugee organisation that helped him.

This campaign is a follow up of the campaign started by Kat Parker who is member of our team. The first campaign helped him get out of the country, via Egypt, Cyprus, Istanbul, Kiev to the secret place where he is now.
