This is Gus Gus. He is a stray cat that has been coming to our yard for at least three years now. We love him and want to help him.

He has had a rough life and has had several serious injuries that he keeps aggravating. We have tried to take care of him the best we can, feeding him and giving him water and shelter but had been unable to approach him until recently. When he first came into our lives, he was very scared and skittish, and it has taken all this time for him to learn to love and trust us, and we were finally able to capture him and take him to the vet.

The worst and most serious of Gus Gus's injuries is a laceration to his left front leg. It is deep, going all the way to his muscle. It has been unable to heal properly, and the scabs that form keep getting torn off. The vet has told us the wound will not heal on its own and that surgery is needed to repair it and to prevent infection.

We know this little boy has been in a lot of pain and that this wound is potentially life threatening. In order to help him, we have opted to get the surgery for him, but of course, it is expensive, and so that is why we are asking for your help.

The good news is that in spite of his hard outdoor existence, Gus Gus is relatively healthy. His lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, thyroid, and white blood cell count are all good. He does not have any serious illnesses other than an infection likely caused from the wound. The surgery and antibiotics will help him get better and live a more fulfilling life.

Now that we have gotten him to trust us, we have discovered what a sweet boy Gus Gus is. He is very affectionate, although still wary. He deserves a better life, and this surgery is the first step to helping him have that.
