A Guelph institution, Royal City Cooperative Preschool has been educating and enriching the lives of area children and families since 1969. Those familiar with this treasured school can tell you that current teachers have been with RCCP for decades, and have begun welcoming back the children of their early students. It is an environment of sustained warmth and nurturing that reflects Guelph’s community as a whole.

(Janice Walters has been a teacher with RCCP for 38 years. She’s now teaching a 2nd generation of RCCP students whose parents she taught as preschoolers as well.)

(Janice's students in 1987, including parents of current and recent students.)
This year, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, that legacy of fostering generations of our little ones’ confidence and skills is at risk. With reduced enrolment, and the uncertainty of what the winter months hold, the school may have to close this year. If that happens, it may not be able to reopen. This would bring to an end over 50 years of community-building, crucial early childhood education, and support for parents.

Today, I’m asking for your help to bridge the gap created by the pandemic so that RCCP can weather this storm and be there for future Guelph families. As an alumna of RCCP myself, the parent of two recent graduates, and one current student, I cannot overstate the value that this school brings to the families who join the co-operative. Please help us to keep Guelph’s favourite preschool operational so that the teachers there can continue the important work they have been doing in our community for more than half a century. Thank you so much for your support!
