SAVE GRAYROCK FARM SANCTUARY
Donation protected
On August 18, 2023, the Clinton Township zoning office informed us that we need a variance to keep our beloved sanctuary open. The property has been a farm since before 1996, but we came to own it in 2018. Our sanctuary has been operating since February 2018 with the intentions of helping as many animals as we can, as well as giving the community a loving, welcoming place to enjoy. We have been forced to shut our doors until we can resolve this.
Grayrock Farm Sanctuary is home to 3 senior horses (1 is blind and missing an eye), 2 male goats, 1 lamb, 4 pot belly mini pigs, 6 barn cats, 5 ducks, 12 hens and 3 roosters. These farm animals are rescued from various places, some severe circumstances and some were homeless. We are a small family farm on 10 acres, and this has been our family home for almost 6 years. We have groups of children and adults that visit for animal therapy, education on animal care and to hear the animals' stories. We offer tours of the farm by appointment to learn and interact with our animals. The local children come to volunteer for service hours, daisy troops come to earn their animal care badge and the community is always welcomed here as a place to come and make memories with their friends and family.
We run 2 to 3 community events a year solely to raise money for our animals. We do so in ways to help bring people together and help support local small businesses, local live musicians, raise awareness for rescued animals and support the community of local families.
We are starting this go fund me because we do not make a profit rescuing animals. We rely on donations to keep the animals fed, vetted and cared for. All the money we take in goes towards their care. We need to keep the animals' home where they are rehabilited, comfortable and loved.
The township requires us to obtain a variance to stay open. The legal fees, planning fees and engineer fees for a variance will cost us an estimated $28,000.00 which we do not have.
Our emergency fund is empty, and we desperately need your help! Please consider donating even just a few dollars if you can spare them. We need your help to raise awareness and keep these animals safe. Please also consider sharing with your friends and relatives. We appreciate any help you can give us.
THANK YOU!
