Save Gracie: let’s fight cancer together

I first laid eyes on Gracie in 2015. It was her beautiful grey eyes that matched her grey patch that got me hooked. She has been with me since she was a couple weeks old. That was almost 10 years ago. Gracie was so easy to train, never giving me issues with anything. So lovable and friendly I haven’t met anyone who’s come across her that hasn’t fallen in love. The perfect dog does exist. She has been nothing but spoiled over the years, having more clothes and beds than any dog could. Gracie has been through so much with me from my cancer scares to dealing with lupus everyday. Emotionally she has helped me so much. She is not just a dog, she is my CHILD.

A month ago she began barely eating and one day she showed signs that it was hard for her to breathe. I immediately took her to emergency and received the most devastating news. CANCER. I was told she has a mass in her chest near her heart and there is fluid filling her chest cavity. This causes her lungs to float on top of the fluid making it impossible for her to breathe. I authorized her to get a thoracocentesis drainage again at the doctors telling me I should put her down because the many procedures would be expensive. I refused to put a price tag on her. I am fighting for her LIFE. After the drainage Gracie was back to herself playing and jumping. The vet told me the fluids will return but no idea as to when. Until then I have researched over 15 oncologists, back and forth trips to the vet, alarms set on my phone for when she has to take her medication, changed her diet, giving her an abundance of love and kisses. I made a promise to myself I will do anything I can to save her.

I have paid over $2000 in vet bills so far in drainage medications blood work and she hasn’t even seen her specialist yet. She has to see an oncologist and then they will determine if invasive surgery or chemo is best for her. I have reached out to non profits and other foundations for help. I am doing all I can to keep up with the financial side of this but I need help and I will never be too prideful to ask for any when it comes to Gracie’s life. I know times are so hard in this economy so any amount you can give is so appreciated. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t do everything I could.
