Poor Gilbert started limping a few weeks ago. I thought it might have just been a sprain or something minor. I finally took him to see the vet this morning, and it ended up being much more devastating. This poor guy has bone cancer eating away at his leg. I feel so bad for him. He's about 14 years old and is still eating and drinking, purring, and getting around. My 3 daughters love this guy, but unfortunately, the cost of amputation to keep him around a few more years is just not in the cards. I didn't put him down today as he is still healthy otherwise for now, and his bloodwork was all perfect. He's clearly in pain, and it's sad to see. I'm going to treat him with some medications to keep him comfortable and told the girls to give him lots of love. I don't expect him to last too long with a bone looking that bad untreated. Though our plan of care is keeping him comfortable, my girls have asked why I'm not doing more. He would likely fully recover and live a normal life on 3 legs, but the cost to amputate is quite a bit. I told my daughters I would do all that I can. So, I figured I'd start a GoFundMe to see if anyone could help.
