On the morning of Wednesday the 3rd, we took our sweet girl Gibby to the vet for a regular check up and to update her vaccines. By Thursday morning something was clearly wrong, with Gibby crying out in pain. We raced her to the emergency vet on the 4th, where she was in a full coma at that point. Her blood sugar was at a 33, she had lost all of her vision, and was having seizures. Gibby is only 4 years old, she has so much left to give.
Since Thursday afternoon the doctors have been fighting to keep her stable, with a constant glucose drip and lots of testing. Her vision has come back, and the seizures are becoming less common. There is a light at the end of the tunnel for her. We are making progress. She just needs more time for her glucose levels to even out on her own, but this takes time and constant monitoring.
Being a holiday weekend, hospitalizing her at the emergency vet for days has been a very expensive endeavor. We are already well past our means, but will do anything to get our sweet girl home and safe. She is our family.
Any amount that you are able/willing to donate will make a huge difference in Gibby’s success.
Please feel free to share this post with others. Every little bit helps.
Thank you for caring about us and our Gibby❤️
