Save George Micheal
Donation protected
George Micheal is more than a pet, he is family. He has a blockage keeping him from peeing. He is in a lot of pain and he needs treatment immediately, if we cannot afford to pay, we have been informed that the most humane thing to do would be to euthanize him. Please help us save our fur baby.
He needed to be seen at the vet yesterday because he was having an allergic reaction to plastic on his face. I didn't have the pet carrier so I had him sitting on my lap with a cat harness and leash until we got to the vet, (about 3pm) on the way to the vet, he peed on me. When we arrived at the vet, my husband ran inside to grab a pet carrier. I stepped out of the car to attempt to clean the pet urine off of me as best I could, and George ran right out of his harness! He took off down the back alley of the vet hospital and we couldn't find him for 4 hours! Finally we found him, and just when we did a bunch of alley cats got into it with him and chased him up a huge tree behind the hospital. He was stuck up in the tree for 3 hours 40 feet up. I spent half that day thinking I'd lost him and would never see him again, and the rest of the night staring up at him with a flash light scared to let him leave my sight again. I called Canopy Cats, and Shaun from the TV show on Animal Planet, Tree Top Cats, came to rescue George at about 10pm. He gave me a ride home, since my husband had to take the boys home he had left me at the hospital to stare at my cat up a tree for 3 hours until someone could rescue him. lol
The next day, I took George to vet. The vet told me that George had a serious blockage in his urinary tract, and if I did not pay 1800$ to get his surgery done, that they would have to euthanize him. They said he needed the surgery immediately. I did not have the money and I didn't think I would be able to get anything close. Upon calling around, looking for grants it became clear I wasn't going to get much help in that department, but I found a no kill shelter that would take him and give him the surgery he needed to save his life, The Seattle Humane Society. The only catch was, they wouldn't be able to get him in until tomorrow, and I wouldn't be able to keep him. I would have to let him go in order to ensure he would have the chance to live..... I shared my story with my friends and family, preparing myself to say goodbye to my sweet sweet therapy kitty (I have PTSD and Chronic anxiety, and he is the first cat to be able to help me, and love my 2 and 4 year old boys even though they are so rough and rowdy with him.) Just then, my mom and my husband came through, both offered to take out loans, we applied for care credit and got 500$ and we got an emergency loan extension on a previous loan for 600$, and then my mother agreed to get a loan out for 700$. We only have 310$ left on the Care Credit card after his first visit and pain medication. We still need all the help we can get, at least 200 more dollars for the procedure alone, and any other donation will be applied to his continued care, as he will need to go back to check up on how hes doing, and he will need a special diet, and we are clearly tapped..... Every little bit helps. <3 Thank you for reading our story and sharing it far and wide. <3 #SAVEGEORGEMICHEAL
