Save Galletti Shoe Repair from Closing

Donation protected
Galletti Shoe Repair is a small, immigrant-owned shop in San Francisco’s Financial District that provides repair services for shoes and leather goods. This campaign aims to raise funds to help cover its rent and help it survive the coronavirus pandemic.

Carmen, my mom, bought Galletti with her partner in 2015, and they are at risk of having to close it permanently. Their livelihood depends on this shop. They have poured themselves into it by providing high-quality services and forming close ties with their customers.

These are painful times for them. Most of their business comes from customers who work in the Financial District. But unfortunately, because of the pandemic, most businesses in the area remain closed. Foot traffic and sales have to come to a halt. Despite receiving a Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loan to cover payroll expenses, my mom and her partner still had to let employees go and have been unable to cover the high rent for their shop. Without external support, they will be forced to close the shop down permanently.

My mom came to the Bay Area from Honduras over twenty years ago, like many other immigrants, looking for a better future for her family. She is my biggest inspiration - she raised me as a single mother in a new country, working 60+ hour weeks to put me through school and support our family. She’s helped pay for my cousins’ education, covered medical bills for my grandparents, and supported her siblings when they were out of work. She’s the one our family always counts on. Now she needs our help.

Please consider donating to this campaign to help Galletti Shoe Repair survive this pandemic.

In addition to donating, you can help by having Galletti repair your shoes, purses, or leather goods. The shop has four stars on Yelp
and is located at 22 Battery St. in San Francisco. They are also offering free contactless pickup and delivery within SF if you spend $50 or more.

Thank you so much!
