Save Gainford Drama Club and the Academy Theatre

Gainford Drama Club has been in existence since 1949 and for most of that time has staged two plays a year in our very own Academy Theatre.  We would like to thank our loyal audiences who have supported us over those many years.  However, after 70 years we are now in the position that due to Covid-19 we have been unable to stage any productions this year, and it looks like this situation may continue into 2021. 

Unfortunately, ticket sales are our only source of income and without those funds we are struggling to cover our outgoings such as rent and utility bills, and club reserves are running very low.  Putting on a play requires a lot of up front costs and we will soon get to a situation where we will not have enough funds to stage our next production.

We are now at the point where we are having to seek donations from our loyal supporters and the wider community to ensure the club continues for another 70 years.  Any amount would be gratefully received to ensure this valuable asset remains available to the community and people can continue to enjoy our plays in the fantastic setting of the Academy Theatre.

All our sponsors will be acknowledged in the programme for our next production, hopefully sometime in 2021
