Hi there, this is Gadget, our dear 1-year-old chiweenie.

After a recent bout of severe anemia and hospitalization, he's receiving as much treatment at home as possible The prognosis is difficult and further intervention may be needed to resolve. Please help us save him.

[Update 11/27 to 11/28/2025]

Gadget is currently home fending off diarrhea as an apparent secondary effect of his blood clot induced liver condition.

The blood clot is creating liver shunts and affecting his ability to filter toxins, which in turn produce all the knock on secondary effects.

At this point were at the limits of treatment and finances. The only avenue to possibly save him would be to see a specialist and that in and of itself is a new set of hurdles. I appeal to your generosity any further help is appreciated from the bottom of my heart, no donation is to small, and any spreading of the word is also greatly appreciated. Gadget Is outta of the hospital and recovering and receiving treatment at home. He's improved significantly, but still not out of the woods. We're expecting more info after the next follow up in 2 weeks.

Gadget is currently fighting in intensive care post transfusion. We're at the very limits of our initial $6,500 estimate from the vet and we're still doing all we can to secure the resources for his life saving treatment. The current theory is he possibly has a congenital Liver shunt and he may require a plasma transfusion to once again stabilize and a CT scan to diagnose in order to finally root out the cause and treatment approach.

And as such, the financial hit has been abrupt and severe. As is, we're simply unable to tackle the burden without help. Any assistance, no matter the amount, is greatly appreciated.
