Hi, this is my best friend, Furball.
Furball has been by my side since the day he was born. We rescued his mom from a backyard breeding situation in Boyle Heights, where she was being used only for profit. After we brought her home, loved her, and gained her trust, she had her final litter — and that’s when Furball came into my life. We kept him and his mom, spayed her, and he has been my best friend ever since.
Recently, Furball was attacked by another dog and suffered a fractured jaw. Since then, I have taken him to multiple veterinary hospitals, but many turned us away due to his small size and age. Our most recent visit was to a hospital willing to perform the surgery, but the estimate is now over $10,000.
The cost is so high because of complications from dental work he had in September. What was supposed to be a single procedure turned into two separate procedures. The first veterinarian was unable to remove the entire root due to carpal tunnel and didn’t want to keep Furball under anesthesia longer because of his age. During the second procedure, we were told the root had become infected and fractured his jaw, and a wire was placed in his mouth permanently for support.
This latest hospital told us that a permanent wire in a dog’s mouth can actually cause chronic infection, pain, and make the jaw even more fragile — even risking another break. They also discovered untreated open holes near his upper canine that require urgent care. These holes are causing him to struggle to even eat and drink.
Now Furball needs emergency treatment to remove the wire, repair his fractured jaw, and treat the open holes — all at once. Without this surgery, he will continue to be in pain, struggle to eat properly, and at risk of life-threatening complications.
I have already spent about $4,000 on his previous dental procedures, split across multiple credit cards, and I simply cannot cover this new cost alone. Asking for help is incredibly hard for me, but I can’t imagine losing him because I couldn’t afford to save him.
Furball isn’t just a pet — he is my family, my comfort, my shadow, and my best friend. He has been there for me through everything, and I want to be there for him now when he needs me most.
If you’re able to donate, share, or even just send positive thoughts, it would mean the world to us. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings Furball one step closer to getting the care he desperately needs and the chance to live a longer, pain-free life.
Thank you for reading our story and for helping us fight for Furball. ❤️
The estimated cost for Furball’s life-saving surgery and treatment is over $10,000. I set our goal at $12,000 to cover medical care, hospitalization, medications, and recovery. Any funds beyond that will go directly toward his ongoing care and follow-up visits. Thank you.
