Save Fritz: Ill and Abandoned in the Cold
Donation protected
Belladonna & Friends is a grass-roots animal rescue service. We focus only on animals abandoned or born on the streets in the most distressed parts of NYC.
NYC has a devastating animal abandonment issue and a poor infrastructure to support them. There are hundreds of small, volunteer-only rescue groups and all of us are struggling. We struggle for transportation, foster homes, adoptive homes and of course money to pay for vet bills and spay - neuter services.
On January 14, our friend and homeless animal caretaker Juan, found a dumped cat outside who appeared very sick. It’s 32 degrees out. Fritz meowed at Juan, literally begging for help.
Our rescue group took Fritz on yesterday as he was rushed to our local veterinary practice. This morning we were called and told he is gravely ill. He can barely stand, he has an ulceration on his mouth which implies he may have bitten a wire. His front legs are swollen and some important blood variables are off.
Our group gives every animal we rescue, every chance they deserve. Fritz is going on IV fluids, syringe feeding, he needs full body x-rays and has already had blood work. He will need around the clock care over the next 24 to 48 hours to see if he has a chance.
Our vet debt is already stuck at $13,000 and it cannot go any higher. We ask you to help us stay above water with Fritz so we don’t have to make any choices based on limited funding.
You are also encouraged to call a donation in directly to our vet, $50 or more. Message @SavingBelladonna for the vet’s information.
Together, we can give Fritz every chance at life.
With love, Belladonna & Friends
