Hello, thank you for taking the time to read our story! My name is Amy and I am mama to Jordan and our two fur babies, Mowgli and Finnick. We love our dogs beyond measure and have raised them both since they were 8 weeks old. They are a huge part of our family and we can't imagine our lives without them.
Finnick is in need of our help. Finnick has a mass on his spleen and he needs a splenectomy to have it removed and tested. After days of lethargy, no eating, trembling, and pain, we took him to the emergency vet and were informed of a mass found possibly on his stomach. After an ultrasound, it was discovered that the mass was actually on his spleen and could rupture at any time. A ticking time bomb. Once it ruptures, he could experience a very traumatic situation and it could cause him to bleed out and die. Not only would we lose our dog, but our son Jordan would lose his very best friend in the world. Watching them play together and love each other has been one of the biggest joys of parenthood. Our other dog Mowgli has little interest in Jordan lol but Finnick is obsessed! They are always chasing each other around the house, playing fetch, tug of war, and just kissing. Every day when Jordan wakes up, he walks around looking for his buddy to say good morning. Every night he waves goodnight. Their bond is undeniably precious. My biggest fear is Jordan will not understand and be walking around aimlessly looking for Finnick and won't be able to find him because we lost him. Death is a part of life, yes, but we need more time. Finnick is not ready to go yet. There are still many treats to eat, trees to pee on, flowers to smell, and faces to lick. Finnick is a fighter! He overcame cancer 4 years ago and I know he can beat this too. Hopefully, the odds are in his favor!
As parents, it is our job to care for our kids and keep them safe. I feel like a failure to Finnick. I wish I had caught this sooner. I wish we were in a better place financially to handle this. I wish life were easier for us currently, but it isn't. We need help. We need help to help Finnick.
My husband is currently in between jobs due to his new job's opening date being pushed back again. We are paycheck-to-paycheck people, which is fine, but it makes this time especially challenging. We are doing everything we can to earn extra money, cut expenses, and save up for his surgery, but it's not enough. We have been blessed by my family members who have given us some help, and I hope to repay them someday. We are asking for financial assistance from anyone who is moved by our story. Anything you can give will help so much! We will be forever grateful!! Thank you for your time, your love, your hope, and your donations.
With all our love and deepest gratitude,
Amy, Jon, Jordan, Mowgli, and the king himself, Finnick
