Save Fanny's Farm Shop IOW

Fanny’s Farm Shop is a family-run business based in Norton Green, Isle of Wight, UK. Nicola and Kay (pictured) opened the doors of the farm shop to customers at the beginning of July 2022 to provide the Isle of Wight community a hub for finding local, fresh and traceable foods from various producers from across the Island. Since its opening there has been significant interest from fellow Islanders, including many comments about how this is just what the local area was missing. This shows how integral Fanny’s could become in the future given your much-needed support.

The project has been entirely self-funded and has been a long and arduous journey with many obstacles along the way, with the most pertinent being the builder who left mid-construction despite being paid in full. As you can imagine, this was extremely distressing for those involved in the project, especially Nicola and Kay. We are delighted that we’ve even managed to get to the point of opening the farm shop. However, there are significant works that are still required to meet new building regulations, yet another obstacle which threatens the future of Fanny’s Farm Shop.

Unfortunately, due to these issues, we have run out of funds to carry out the necessary work and are now asking for your support to ensure our dream can survive and flourish.

If Fanny’s can survive this latest setback, we plan to continue growing by increasing the amount of other local businesses we stock in the shop and expanding the soft fruit grown on-site. In addition, we would like to create a care farm offering vulnerable adults the chance to engage in horticulture, animal husbandry and gardening to improve their mental wellbeing.
Initially, the funds raised from this crowdfunding will ensure the survival of Fanny’s Farm Shop by carrying out:

• Remedial works on accessibility for wheelchair users
• Interior fireproofing works
• Installation of toilet facilities
• Establishing a power connection, either through solar panels or the grid

The closure of Fanny’s is a genuine possibility without your generosity. Please give whatever you can to save Fanny’s Farm Shop. Thank you.
