Save Ezra’s Leg and Give Him a Bright Future

So we find out on Monday if the puppy we rescued off our street will be able to keep his leg or need surgery to repair it. This cutie was found in the hills tied up behind a house under construction. My neighbor could hear him crying but couldn’t spot him from her place. He had been crying for 3 days/nights. So she climbed down the hill and by the grace of God, found him tied up to a tree. He was limping badly, couldn't put weight on his paw and looked severely malnourished. No food or water to be found anywhere in site so I'm guessing at least 3 days without either. It’s a miracle he didn’t end up as dinner for a coyote or bitten by a rattlesnake. Once my neighbor climbed back up the hill she called me to help. We rushed right over.

Our phenomenal vet of 28 years had retired a few months ago so after picking up the pup, we sat in the car deciding what to do while trying to keep him calm. I started calling vets in the area and decided to go with a vet who sounded kind & agreed to see him right away. At the end of our visit, the very handsome vet who shared the same curly hair and sandy color as his new patient asked me,

“What are you going to name him?”

I said, “I don’t know...what’s your name?”

So this cutie, now named Ezra, has gained 15 pounds and doesn’t flinch when you reach out to touch him. He sleeps with his belly fully exposed and is one of the smartest pups I’ve ever had the honor of loving & training. We’re hoping the news is good, the cast did its trick and he doesn’t need surgery. According to the vet, his injuries are a result of intense trauma and not something he was born with. The surgery is so intricate and specialized that it will require an orthopedic surgeon. Fingers crossed we can save his leg. There is a potential Ezra might need an extra surgery depending on the success of the first one, that is still up in the air though. We've had Ezra for 4 weeks now and love him dearly however we are considering adopting him out to the right family.

The surgery will be costly so we started our first ever Go Fund Me ❤️ to give this adorable boy the chance to know most humans are good and not abusive POS'S.

Thank you for your consideration.
